Get to Know

The Gold Country

Nevada City is a bright, bustling town full of rich history, delicious restaurants, lively bars, unique shops, festivals & farmers markets and an eclectic music & arts scene.

Nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills; a quick trip outside of town reveals deep forests, winding rivers, mountain lakes and many scenic trails and byways to discover. There’s something for everyone in these hills.

Outdoors

Adventures are waiting outside! Hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, lakes and rivers for swimming and boating, or simply gazing across our forested valleys and high granite peaks are here to enjoy.

Dine

Nevada City offers more than 20 different restaurants sure to satisfy. Old-fashioned candy, artisan ice cream, sushi houses, ramen, farm-to-table fare, late-night pizza slices, Thai and so much more await!

Drink

Gold miners brought grape vines with them from their homelands, essentially starting Nevada County’s first vineyards back in 1852. Enjoy world class wine, explore craft breweries and find the best places for a cocktail or two.

Wellness

Put yourself first during your stay. Indulge in floatation therapy, take a yoga class or simply get pampered in one of our local spas. The foothills make the perfect backdrop to any self care.

Culture

Forage our local farmer’s markets. Wander one of our summer or winter Street Fairs. Attend one of our international film festivals. See a play or live music at one of our numerous venues – there is never a shortage of things to see and do.

Shop

Explore the historic streets of downtown Nevada City for exceptional shopping and antiquing in unique, locally-owned stores.

Summer Fun!

We try not to play favorites, but summer just might be our favorite season in Gold Country. Rivers, creeks and lakes beckon you to dive in, local farms are bursting with the freshest fruits and vegetables and sweet small town fairs and music festivals abound!
